Interview - Sarah Brokaw, author, interviews Brig. General

As part of a website and companion to a book on outstanding women, Sarah Brokaw (yes, Tom's daughter) interviewed a retiring Brigadier General. My job was to set up with a minimum of fuss and help create the right atmosphere for a relaxed interview, since neither Sarah nor the General were on camera professionals.

Science series - The Amazing Brain

This clip is from an award winning science series for TLC. Filming young children requires patience and a light tough, as you don't want a bunch of crying babies! We needed plenty of close ups and mid shots to capture the emotion and interaction between parent and child.

Lifestyle series - I Want That

This clip is from a lifestyle series that was a big hit on HGTV, featuring consumer products that were new on the market. The scenarios were all done with non professionals, and we had just a few hours to get editable and effective material. These shoots were often done in less than ideal circumstances, but we always made them work!

News feature - Denver Summit for ITN, London

This piece was done as part of a news special for British TV leading up to a major environmental summit. I got to take advantage of nature, which provided a great metaphor for the story. Denver epitomizes both the beauty of the country and the threats to that beauty, so the thunderstorm was a great stroke of luck. We had very little time on the ground, making for long days and long nights. The piece won awards for photography and editing.

Documentary - National Geographic Special

This clip is from a National Geographic Special on the Pentagon, made just after 9/11. On this day we were filming the security services and how they dealt with the arrivals of high profile personnel in a dangerous environment. Out of nowhere, a suspicious package appeared in the parking lot, setting off a series of actions by the security detail. I had to scramble in high winds to get the one time shot of the bomb removal team in action, capturing a rare moment in the history of the building. (The package turned out to contain only papers).

Author Video - "Liespotting"

Authors are often not used to speaking to camera. And it's vital to them that they look good. I lit Pam to take advantage of her very good features, and we worked with her to make her feel comfortable and confident in this intro to her enhanced ebook, "LieSpotting."
